How do I know if I’ll like
your wine?
Well, we can’t say for
sure what you definitely will or won’t like. Wine is an entirely
subjective and deeply personal experience. We can tell you that
we have greeted many a wine taster not searching for red wine
who left with a half-case carrier of Pinot Noir.
As our winemaker, Brad,
says, “I’m not just making red wine. I’m making Pinot Noir with
a soul. I’m making Pinot Noir that speaks of the earth.” If
you’re looking for a wine with character, a wine that will make
you go, “hmmmm…I get it…I really get it,” then you’ll probably
like our wine. If you’re looking for a wine that is reminiscent
of a soda pop, well, you should probably look elsewhere.
Try it. You’ll like it.
What do I smell in the
wine?
A client once said, “I
smell dirt in your wine.” We smiled and said, “Thank you.” Ayres
Pinot Noir has a distinctly earthy element, both to the smell
and the taste. Descriptors such as soil, mushrooms, forest
floor, cedar, and tobacco are all appropriate. But don’t stop
there, because that earthy element is well balanced with the
more seductive fruit profiles such as dark cherry, blackberry,
and plums.
Why can’t I find any of
your PIONEER?
The Pioneer label
represents the best of our barrels and has developed quite a
following since its modest debut in 2003. We typically sell it
as soon as we release it, as production is extremely limited.
The best way to make sure you get some is to join our mailing
list and order early in the fall.
But don’t forget about
Pioneer’s first cousin, the AYRES Willamette Valley bottling.
Every bit as good a mouthful as Pioneer, just different.
